Lunch in Virginia

Well, dinner may not have been the gourmet feast that I imagined, and the brownies did burn a little (ok, a lot. On both sides), but we still ate all of it. After all, I had gone to all the trouble of folding up the origami bowls, so we could eat a civilized meal.

It was colder last night than we were expecting, too, and I had left my side of the rainfly open so it was probably colder in the tent than it should have been. Let's just see if that trick works in July . . . But, not only do we have sleeping bags, but thanks to Barbara Corley, we also have silk sleeping bag liners! Barbara created these little silken treasures by hand, even down to tie-dying the fabric herself. They weigh next to nothing, but ward off cold like a hot toddy. And should you need to, they're much easier to wash and dry than a sleeping bag.

We're stopped for lunch right now near Suffolk, Virginia. We've got about 20 more miles to go before we stop at a campsite near Isle of Wight. It's a georgous day, a few clouds, a light breeze, and temps around 70. The roads today have been rural and lightly traveled, but best of all have been restricted to vehicles less than 6 and a half tons. Very enjoyable, from my side of the handlebars.

We probably won't find a library that's open until at least Monday, so no pictures until then. Congratulations to Nathan for his big finishes at the regional races, and for (finally!) signing on with UGA for the fall. Go Dawgs!
