We made it to the Edisto River, one of SC's largest. This is a black-water
river, like many in the Low Country.
It is fun to be back in the Low Country--lots of swamps, cypress knees,
Spanish moss, and fabulous Live Oaks. As we cycled along one part of the
road, a great blue heron AND a red-winged blackbird rose up from the swamp
and flew together in front of us. We both just held our breath
and stopped pedaling . . .
